This book was an impulse buy. Since it was just for Rs. 100 (that’s barely $1.5), I thought it was a great bargain. However, after reading it I understood why it was being sold so cheap.
Synopsis:
Bella has given up on men. After her recent disaster where a guy conveniently forgot to tell her he’s married, she finds herself on her own again. She loses her job (courtesy of a certain pissed off wife) and just when she thought things couldn’t get any worse, her ex-husband shows up as well, wanting to sell off the family home where she’s settled with 2 kids.
So when a company wants to rent the house for a reality TV fashion makeover program, Bella finds herself taking part and finding love in the most unexpected of places.
My Thoughts:
Imagine being offered a delicious chocolate chip cookie. It’s crumbly, fresh from the oven and smells amazing. But just as you bite into it you find out those chocolate chips were actually raisins!
This book is like that cookie!
In the early stages, I feared that it would not work out. The beginning was slow and I thought I’d find myself trailing off and reading other books instead. The story was predictable to say the least and although a few characters like Shirley were exceptionally written, the story had too much going on to capture my attention.
Just when it was getting interesting, the ending came. And the book ended, just like that. When I got to the last chapter I genuinely checked if I had maybe ripped out a few pages by accident. The ending seems incredibly rushed and wraps all the problems a bit too nicely.
My biggest issue with the book was that I didn’t bond with the main character Bella. Maybe it was the name (damn it Twilight), or maybe it was because she was the clichéd chick-lit heroine who I’ve read about in many other books. Problem was that I really didn’t care about Bella or her predicament and wouldn’t have really been all that bothered if she got hit by a bus.
Recommendation:
Don’t. Please go watch an episode of Game of Thrones instead.
The only reason I even bothered writing this was because I’ve decided to review every single book I read this year. I’m hoping this will help me stick to my Goodreads challenge 😀

Nope! The Look of Love doesn’t sound like my cup of tea either, and yes…I have gotten hooked on The Game of Thrones.
I must admit though, after what you may have thought was a scathing review, if I saw the book on Amazon with a tag that said: “Look Inside,” I just might take a peek.
